Well you decided to buy a cowhide and don’t really know where to begin because you have never bought one before.

The first thing to decide is the size you need and this is determined by the room you want to place your cowhide in.If it is really large you can even layer two hides on top of each other to create a really great impact,We suggest two hides of a similar nature because then they blend inot each other and it really looks like you have sourced a really massive rug.Really impressive,Noiw let assume you have a standars room.
Your sofa size determines the rug size you chose .A small rug (around 160cm Long) may look silly if your sofa measures around 3m.This would be a generous three seater usually.You may be better to consider a 2m rug
As smaller room will take the 160cm rug.
You can tuck the rug under your sofa if you want to create a passageway free of obstruction

Now we get to quality.Yes,there are cariations and they really aboyt tanning method used and thickness.
Cowhides are tanned in several ways and without boring you,the test is to see how soft the hide really feels.If it is like cardboard and stiff ,leave it alone.Do not buy.If it is pliable when you handle it and smells of tanned leather you are fine.If it smells like a farmyard leave it where you find it.It will make your home smell
Now we get to thickness.If the hide is paper thin it will not be durable.Standard hides from Brasil are around 2 mm to 2.5mm tick and our Craft cowhides around 1.5mm to 2mm.The type of tanning used differs too as well as the finishing.
